It provides an overall view of the spine and lower limbs and makes it possible to visualize and quantify deviations in the frontal, sagittal, and axial planes.<\/p>\n<h3>Advantages of EOS Imaging<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Useful in cases of <strong>scoliosis <\/strong> or pelvic obliquity<\/li>\n<li>Allows assessment of lumbopelvic-femoral parameters (relationships between the lumbar spine, sacrum, pelvis, and femur)<\/li>\n<li>Reveals <strong>lower-limb deformities <\/strong> : genu valgum, genu varum, knee or hip flexion contractures<\/li>\n<li>Measures bone segment lengths and detects <strong>leg length discrepancies<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Limitations of EOS Imaging<\/h3>\n<p>EOS does <strong>not<\/strong> provide detailed information about bone structure. It is a global skeleton model, not suitable for millimetric bone analysis and does not allow the design of custom-made implants.<\/p>\n<h2>CT Scan: The gold standard for prosthetic planning<\/h2>\n<p>The CT scan is a true 3D cross-sectional imaging technique performed with the patient lying down. Its highly precise calibration allows <strong>life-size measurements<\/strong> : ten millimeters on the scan equal ten millimeters in the body.<\/p>\n<h3>Strengths of CT Scan<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Provides precise visualization of the pelvis and lower limbs through scout views (AP and lateral)<\/li>\n<li>Measures bone length, visualizes deformities, and quantifies leg length discrepancies<\/li>\n<li>Offers very fine bone detail: morphology, density, cysts, osteophytes, joint space narrowing, sclerosis<\/li>\n<li>Accurately measures <strong>coxofemoral anatomical parameters<\/strong> : acetabular diameter, hip orientation relative to the anterior pelvic plane, neck\u2013shaft angle, femoral offset, femoral neck anteversion or retroversion<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The CT scan also visualizes the <strong>femoral medullary canal<\/strong>, where the prosthesis will be anchored, and assesses the muscle groups around the hip to detect atrophy or fatty degeneration.<\/p>\n<h3>CT Scan: a tool for planning and postoperative assessment<\/h3>\n<p>3D CT imaging allows <strong>precise planning<\/strong> of hip prosthesis placement and the creation of a <strong>custom-made implant<\/strong>, perfectly adapted to the patient\u2019s anatomy.<\/p>\n<p>After surgery, a postoperative CT scan can verify implant positioning with millimetric precision. This ensures respect for joint geometry and long-term prosthetic stability.<\/p>\n<h2>Why CT Scan is essential before THR<\/h2>\n<p>Implanting a hip prosthesis without a preoperative CT scan reduces the patient\u2019s chances of optimal recovery.
